When that spring travel fever hits, it’s time to plan a vacay. But with so many destinations to choose from, where do you go? That’s where we come in. We’re narrowing it down to the best of the best spring destinations around the world that are perfect for any traveler.

Amsterdam, Netherlands

One word: tulips. Every spring, travelers from around the world flock to Amsterdam for the annual Tulip Festival where every color of flowers line the streets of the entire city. If this isn’t enough, take a day trip to Keukenhof Gardens for a sight like no other—tulips for daysssss. 7 million bulbs to be exact. On top of that, April is the driest month of the year, so the weather is ideal for strolling, enjoying the various festivals or biking around town. Pro tip: go at the end of April to catch King’s Day, one of the world’s biggest street parties.

Washington, D.C.

Two words: cherry blossoms. Have you ever even been to DC if you didn’t capture the iconic pic of the Jefferson Memorial engulfed by perfectly pink cherry blossoms? Current predictions expect the 2023 peak bloom to fall in the last two weeks of March. After you’re done gallivanting around the National Mall and exploring the cool AND FREE museums, be sure to enjoy the food scene. Our capital city boasts some of the best boozy brunches in the country and also offers some great outdoor seating and rooftop options. Check out VUE Rooftop for some great drinks (if you’re 21+) and even better views. If DC isn’t at the top of your spring destination list, you’re just plain old doing it wrong.

New Orleans

Springtime is a great time in New Orleans, Louisiana! The weather is at it’s mildest of the whole year. We’re talking lows in the 50s, highs in the 70s – dreamy, really. April and May are also NOLA’s driest months, averaging only 4 days each of those months. There’s also really cool happenings going on in the spring like the French Quarter Festival running from April 13 – 16 and New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival (aka Jazz Fest) running from April 28 – May 7. These year’s Jazz fest includes headliners like Lizzo, Ed Sheeran, Dead and Company, The Lumineers, and literally so many more! So grab some beignets and some friends, enjoy the weather, and catch your favorite artist.

Montreal, Canada

An underrated spring destination, Montreal blossoms to life this time of year. There is a croissant festival where you can score $1.25 croissants from over 100 artisan patisseries and bakeries all around Quebec. Montreal is known to be one of the most bike-friendly cities in the world, so consider renting a Bixi bike and exploring the different neighborhoods. There are a ton of art, music, food and drink festivals around this time too, so be sure to catch at least one while you’re in town.

Kyoto, Japan

More cherry blossoms, but this time they’re in Japan! If you’ve always wanted to go to Asia, this is the perfect excuse. Join in on the “hanami” aka the tradition of cherry blossom viewing and welcoming spring. Admire the many gardens, geishas, temples and iconic sites including the Kinkakuji Temple, Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine and the Bamboo Grove. Kyoto doesn’t skimp on nightlife either–there are actually local tour guides that will take you around all the bars so you can experience all the Japanese food, culture and drinks your heart desires. The previous claim that Japan was too expensive to visit is no more and we’ve got the proof.

Austin, Texas

Wildflowers, watering holes and most importantly, $2 tacos. Austin is super cool (and weird, of course) year-round, but is especially cool in the springtime. Soak in the sun at the various festivals including the Bluebonnet Festival from April 7-9 and the Pecan Street Spring Festival from May 6-7. Take a quick hour-ish drive to Texas Hill Country where you can tour some wineries and see meadows filled with beautiful bluebonnets. Wanna cool off? Go kayaking on Lady Bird Lake, take a dip (after a small hike) in Sculpture Falls or grab a group and float down the San Marcos River on an inner tube.

Bodrum, Turkey

While not on many people’s radar for top spring destinations, Turkey has a lot more to offer than amazing culture and hot air balloons. Bodrum is a stunning beach town located in southwest Turkey and is the ultimate spring destination. Similar to Greece and Italy, most people flock here for boat trips and sunbathing on the perfectly turquoise Mediterranean sea, but definitely take some time to explore the old town too. The Castle of St. Peter (built in the 1400s!) and the Museum of Underwater Archaeology should be at the top of your list, but literally right behind the castle you’ll find the former fishing village transformed into picturesque white-washed cottages lined with vibrant flowers. Here, you can spend the day wandering into cool boutiques and sipping a drink at one of the many cafés. Ahhhh we can picture it now…
