Between sight-seeing, shopping, and eating our Snap Gap Winner, Denae, had a successful trip to Paris! Check out some of her adventures.
Fall is here, and that can mean only one thing: the season of the Pumpkin Spice Latte is upon us. While you may see the tasty drink as your perfect accessory for wandering through this autumn season in Paris, at €5.75 for a venti, it can sure add up quickly! But, if you’d like to swap the caffeine for a little French culture, here are five Parisian things you can get for nearly the same price!
A New Wardrobe
French fashion is known to be as stylish as it is expensive. Luckily, there are second hand stores right in the center of Paris where you can pick up some pre-loved staples for your wardrobe. Make a beeline for the Free P Star stores in the Marais district…their €1 bins will have you looking a la mode in no time. Just be prepared to dig!
A Great Read
There are plenty of picturesque places to lounge around in Paris (a bench in Luxembourg Gardens, the lawn in front of the Eiffel Tower, the list could go on and on…), so why not take a book along to keep you company? Just a 5-minute walk from Notre Dame, the charming Shakespeare & Company has a secondhand book collection that will help you find the perfect companion for the crisp autumn days.
Something Sweet
Crêpe stands are about as common as coffee shops, so you should have no problem finding a place to grab a sweet (or savory) bite to eat. You might have a little more difficulty in deciding on one of the seemingly endless flavor combinations, though…
Something Savory
The croque-monsieur is a French institution–and luckily, you can find one that will leave your wallet as full as your stomach. Of course, this perfect marriage of ham and melted cheese will cost more if you find it at a sit-down restaurant, but you can find a satisfying version at many street vendors. Switch things up and get an egg on top for a croque-madame.
Some Sweet Moves
If you make it to Paris in the summer months, there are plenty of free events that take advantage of the sunny weather. Once of which is the open air swing and salsa dancing sessions along the Seine. Regardless of your experience, or whether you’re going solo or with a partner, you can dance the night away by the iconic river!
