Got a touch of cabin fever? Currently, there are actually much fewer travel restrictions on domestic travel than many people realize. While it’s always safest to stay home, if you need a change of scenery, there’s a lot of places in the US you can visit for a staycation while still responsibly following guidelines and safety measures.

We’ve compiled a list of every state’s Covid-19 travel restrictions in the US. Of course, these can change at any time, so keep an eye on official guidance (linked below for every state). Keep in mind that your home state may have restrictions that you’ll need to follow upon your return home. Many states are recommending travelers to follow official CDC guidelines for domestic travel.

For states that have travel restrictions, these restrictions apply to both travelers entering the state as well as residents who are returning home after traveling elsewhere.

This guidance was last updated May 19, 2021.

US Travel Restrictions for Every State

For vaccinated travelers: The CDC has updated their travel guidance for vaccinated travelers. If you’re fully vaccinated and traveling within the US, you don’t need to get tested before or after travel (unless the destination specifically requires it—most do not) and you do not need to self-quarantine before or after traveling, unless you have symptoms.
