We know everyone’s wondering – what’s flying during Covid like? What are the precautions being taken by airports and airlines? Is it okay to fly? To help answer these questions and better prepare you for flying during this time, we’ve asked our own travelers to share their recent experience at the airport and on their flight. While we can’t tell you whether you should or shouldn’t travel right now, we’ll let our very own customers do the talking so you can decide for yourself.

Travelers’ thoughts:

“There is a lot about it that you can control. Like where you sit at the gate or even asking to move on the plane if there are other areas with less people available. The flight attendants were very accommodating.”

“I am glad I took advantage of this time to have an adventure!”

“It was not as stressful as I imagined it would be. For my international flight I felt safe even during the meal times.”

“I felt very safe but it was hard to leave America with my Spanish residency card because they are being very strict.”

Travelers’ advice:

“Take responsibility for your own actions. You can choose to help by wearing a mask, washing your hands, and maintaining distance even if you don’t feel like everyone else around you is doing the same.”

“Everyone needs to wear a mask! Even around the gate, not just while physically on the plane to adhere to airline rules.”

“Bring small hand sanitizer and try to keep distance. Always wear a mask. Gloves preferred. Wash hands constantly.”

“Do your research about the airline and what precautions they are taking. Be safe and come prepared. Regardless of what the airport and airlines do, passengers also have to be intentional and accountable.”

“Really give people space and don’t get close to them out of respect.”

“Sometimes the flight can be full so come prepared.” (depending on the airline)

“As long as everyone is cooperating, there are no issues.”

All in all, most of our travelers felt okay when flying during Covid, as long as people were following safety measures. Bring your own PPE including your mask, hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes, and stay as far away from people as you can. If there are lots of empty rows in the back of a plane, choose or ask to sit there. While there will always be risk involved, there are definitely things you can do to protect yourself and others, and always make sure to stay updated with the CDC’s (aka the Center for Disease Control) updates and recommendations for travel with the coronavirus. So, when and if you’re ready to travel, we’ve got some discount flights waiting for you.
